SOLD OUT! – Barrio MX Hosts Puntarenas FC In Second Leg of Apertura Promotion Playoffs Final at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday Night

Barrio Mexico hosts Puntarenas FC at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, December 18 at Estadio Jorge ‘Cuty’ Monge (VXQ2+V74, San Jose Province, Desamparados, Costa Rica) in the second leg of a Liga Motorola Apertura Group Final.

The event is SOLD OUT but will be broadcast live on TDMas.com, with the winner advancing to face the Liga Motorola Clausura Playoff Champion in 2022.

Barrio Mexico and Puntarenas FC played to a scoreless draw in Puntarena on Saturday, Dec. 11, to set the stage for Saturday night.

Barrio MX Joshua Munguia said, “Each of us know what we are playing for and what we are going to do tomorrow. We know that it will be a very close game. We know the quality of Puntarenas but we believe in what we are doing. We hope to give that joys to (the supporters) and to the relatives who have been in the good and bad moments and we hope to close it in the best way.”

Barrio Mexico (10-8-3 W-D-L) now is unbeaten over its last 11 matches overall. Barrio entered the Liga Motorola promotion playoffs as the No. 3 team in Group A before defeating AD Carmelita 4-1 on aggregate in the first round and Marineros de Puntarenas 2-1 in the Group A Final.

Barrio MX Jameson Scott said, “We have focused on recovery and details and we are ready for tomorrow’s game. We are focused on winning and our group is strong and united in that we can get the victory. We envision a difficult game but pray we can win and raise the cup.”

Deybis Jimenez lead Barrio Mexico with five goals this season. Goalkeeper Brian Morales leads a defense thargt has allowed just 15 goals through 21 matches.
